Adam

Adam is a biomimetic open-source humanoid from PNDbotics for manufacturing, healthcare, logistics and research, deployed and integrated across Southeast Asia by Nexon System.

Last updated: 08 Jun 2025

Overview

Adam is a 1.6 m, 60 kg humanoid from PNDbotics of China, built around a biomimetic design that mirrors the way human joints move. Its open-source foundation and force-controlled body make it a flexible platform for both applied automation and fundamental locomotion research.

The robot has 25 degrees of freedom driven by 25 quasi-direct-drive (QDD) force-controlled actuators distributed throughout its body, delivering high torque of up to 340 N·m in the legs along with compliance and energy efficiency for smooth, human-like motion. Sensing includes joint torque and position sensors, force sensors in the legs and optional vision modules, all linked over a high-speed Ethernet network for responsive whole-body control. Its open-source software applies reinforcement and imitation learning with real-time control, sensor fusion and AI-powered motion simulation and training.

As an agile humanoid robot, Adam suits manufacturing, healthcare, logistics, space-exploration research and general locomotion research. Its compliant actuation and open software stack support rapid experimentation, letting teams prototype new behaviours and transfer them from simulation to hardware.

Nexon System deploys the PNDbotics Adam across Southeast Asia, providing commissioning, SDK onboarding, task and behaviour programming, and integration with production and research systems and toolchains. Every deployment includes training and continuing technical support, so research groups and industrial teams can build on the platform and keep it running reliably.
