Overview

Ambidex is a 1.86 m dual-arm humanoid from Naver Labs of South Korea, engineered around cable-driven arms that are unusually light and safe for working close to people. Its design prioritises fast, precise and gentle manipulation, making it well suited to tasks shared with humans.

The robot provides 7 degrees of freedom per arm through cable-driven actuators that mimic human muscle function, delivering lightweight, flexible and fast movement with high precision and safe force control. Force and position sensors are integrated with the cable-driven mechanisms, haptic sensors provide tactile feedback during teaching, and vision sensors handle task-environment perception. Its software runs a haptic feedback control system with real-time motion planning, AI learning modules for task adaptation and remote-operation tools, all supported by a battery runtime of about 480 minutes for long working periods.

As a safe, precise humanoid robot for close human contact, Ambidex suits cooking, home assistance, rehabilitation, manufacturing and research. Its lightweight arms and haptic teaching make it easy to program by demonstration, so operators can show it a task rather than code it line by line.

Nexon System deploys the Naver Labs Ambidex across Southeast Asia, providing commissioning, teach-by-demonstration and task programming, and integration with clinical, kitchen and production systems. Each deployment includes operator training and continuing support and maintenance, so customers can adopt safe collaborative manipulation with confidence.
