ANYmal

ANYmal is an autonomous four-legged robot from ANYbotics in Switzerland, one of the most established industrial quadrupeds on the market. Weighing around 30 kg, it is engineered to climb stairs, cross rough terrain and carry out repeatable inspection rounds in complex facilities without human intervention.

The ANYbotics ANYmal integrates a 360° LiDAR, multiple depth and optical cameras, thermal imaging, gas sensors and microphones for comprehensive environmental perception. Its twelve ANYdrive series-elastic actuators offer robust impact resistance and 360° joint rotation, enabling agile, compliant locomotion. Around 240 minutes of runtime supports extended missions, and the software runs on Ubuntu Linux with a ROS-based framework for planning, control, localisation and navigation, exposing C++ and Python APIs plus AI-driven analytics.

ANYbotics targets inspections, infrastructure monitoring, security patrols, surveillance and manufacturing, where ANYmal autonomously reads instruments, listens for anomalies, detects gas and captures thermal and visual data across plants, substations and industrial sites. Its acoustic and thermal analytics help catch developing faults early, turning routine rounds into predictive-maintenance insight.
