ANYmal X

ANYmal X is an explosion-proof four-legged robot from ANYbotics in Switzerland. About 0.87 metres tall and 30 kg, it is purpose-built for safe autonomous inspection inside hazardous, potentially explosive industrial atmospheres such as oil, gas and chemical facilities.

The ANYbotics ANYmal platform senses its environment with 360° LiDAR for long-range mapping and localisation, six depth cameras for near-field awareness, two optical tele-operation cameras and integrated gas sensing. Its twelve electric series-elastic actuators use patented designs for explosion-proof operation and 360° joint rotation, giving it agile, compliant mobility over stairs and uneven ground. A runtime of roughly 90 minutes covers scheduled inspection rounds, and closed-source AI navigation and inspection software runs on Ubuntu with ROS, with API access for integration.

ANYbotics targets inspections, infrastructure monitoring, security patrols, surveillance and manufacturing, where the ability to work safely in explosive zones sets ANYmal X apart. It autonomously reads gauges, detects gas and captures thermal and visual data on repeatable routes, removing people from hazardous areas while producing consistent inspection records for compliance and maintenance planning.
