The ergoCub is an ergonomics-focused collaborative humanoid from the ergoCub project in Italy, built for healthcare, logistics and research, and integrated across Southeast Asia by Nexon System.
Last updated: 09 Jun 2025
The ergoCub is a 1.5 m, 55.7 kg humanoid developed by the ergoCub initiative in Italy with a distinctive mission: reducing physical strain on human workers. Rather than replacing people, it is designed to lift and share loads alongside them in an ergonomically safe way, helping to prevent the injuries that come from repetitive manual handling.
The robot can handle a payload of up to 10 kg and moves through advanced electric actuators tuned for smooth, precise and ergonomic joint motion during collaborative lifting and manipulation. Its sensing combines Intel RealSense depth cameras, LiDAR, force-torque sensors and an OLED display for feedback, while AI-based ergonomic motion planning, multi-sensor fusion and vision modules for human-intention recognition let it anticipate and support a co-worker's movements rather than react late.
As a collaborative humanoid robot, ergoCub targets healthcare settings such as patient handling, logistics and warehousing tasks that involve repetitive lifting, and research into safer human-robot teamwork and physical ergonomics. Its emphasis on shared effort makes it a natural fit for workplaces focused on occupational health and injury reduction.
Nexon System introduces the ergoCub humanoid to research centres and industrial partners across Southeast Asia, providing commissioning, task programming for shared-load and assisted-lifting operations, and integration with warehouse, clinical and facility workflows. Each project comes with operator training on safe collaboration and dedicated ongoing support, so teams can trial ergonomic automation with confidence.
