Hexplorer

Hexplorer by Dobot is a compact Chinese legged quadruped robot for inspection, education and hospitality, deployed and integrated across Southeast Asia by Nexon System.

Last updated: 22 Dec 2025

Overview

Hexplorer is a bionic legged robot from China's Dobot, a compact 0.48 m, 30 kg platform built to move confidently across rugged terrain while remaining approachable enough for classrooms and public spaces. Its open, developer-first design is as much a teaching tool as a field platform.

It senses its environment with a Livox Mid360 LiDAR, an Intel RealSense D435 RGB-D camera and an IMU, moves on proprietary electric servos, and runs an open software stack based on Ubuntu 22.04 and ROS 2 Humble with Python and C++ SDKs plus real-time motion and sensor APIs, giving about 150 minutes of runtime. This openness and full sensor suite make it an unusually accessible quadruped robot that students, researchers and integrators can extend with their own code.

Its uses range across inspections, education and research, home assistance, hospitality and entertainment, benefiting from its terrain agility, programmability and friendly form. In teaching it supports hands-on robotics curricula; in the field it can walk routes and carry light sensor payloads.

Nexon System deploys the Dobot Hexplorer across Southeast Asia. We handle commissioning, custom behaviour and inspection-route programming, sensor and payload integration, and both developer enablement and operator training, backed by regional support. For schools and universities we can align it to coursework and lab exercises. Talk to Nexon System to put Hexplorer to work in your facility or classroom.
