Overview

InMoov is a pioneering open-source, 3D-printable life-sized humanoid originated in France. As a fully documented, buildable humanoid robot, it lets educators, researchers and makers construct and program a human-scale machine from printed parts and off-the-shelf electronics.

Multiple servo motors act as its actuators, enabling smooth, precise movement of limbs, fingers and head and providing the degrees of freedom needed for humanoid articulation. Its perception hardware includes micro-cameras for vision, Kinect sensors for 3D depth perception, touch sensors and PIR sensors for motion detection and environmental awareness. The open software is built on MyRobotLab, a Java framework with Python bindings, offering a web-based UI plus speech and gesture support.

That openness and buildability make it ideal for education and research, where students and hobbyists learn robotics hands-on by printing, assembling, extending and programming the platform. Because every part is documented and reproducible, teams can repair, modify and share their build freely, making it a superb teaching project.
