NEO

NEO by 1X Technologies takes a deliberately different path from industrial humanoids: it is designed from the ground up to be safe, quiet and pleasant to live alongside in a home. At about 1.67 m and just 30 kg, NEO is notably lighter than most bipedal humanoids, and its soft, polymer-wrapped body and pinch-proof joints prioritise human safety in close quarters.

The engineering choices all serve that goal. A proprietary tendon-drive system gives NEO high backdrivability and near-silent operation, quieter than a household refrigerator, while 75 degrees of freedom deliver the fine, whole-body coordination that domestic chores require. Perception comes from dual high-resolution stereo fisheye cameras plus a speaker and microphone array for natural interaction, and the robot is driven by 1X's Redwood AI generalist model running on NVIDIA Jetson Thor, enabling autonomous task execution, conversation and continuous learning.

NEO is aimed at home assistance, elder and age care, cleaning, hospitality and telepresence — roles that blend physical help with everyday interaction.
