Olivia is a social humanoid developed by the A*STAR Social Robotics Lab in Singapore, standing about 1.6 m tall and weighing around 152 kg. Built for natural human interaction, this humanoid robot was designed to serve as an engaging receptionist and a versatile research companion.
It moves through 26 degrees of freedom in the neck, arms, wrists and hands, driven by harmonic drive servo actuators for smooth, precise motion. Its perception suite is extensive: a Point Grey Bumblebee stereo camera, a DVN1501 mono camera, eight microphones for sound localization, four microphones for speech detection and a Hokuyo laser scanner. Running on Windows XP and Linux, it integrates speech recognition and synthesis, vision processing and robotic control.
That rich interaction capability makes it a strong fit for reception and hospitality, education, corporate events and exhibitions, healthcare settings and social-robotics research.
