Roadrunner

Developed in the USA by Anduril, Roadrunner is an autonomous vertical-takeoff-and-landing air vehicle designed as a reusable, high-performance interceptor. It launches vertically from a compact footprint, engages fast-moving aerial threats, and can return and recover for reuse when a target is not prosecuted, giving operators a cost-conscious, rapidly redeployable air-defence option.

Roadrunner accepts a range of modular mission payloads, including EO/IR gimbals, SIGINT sensors, electronic-warfare packages and communications relays, so a single airframe can be tailored to different missions. It is directed by Anduril's Lattice AI autonomous command-and-control system, which handles detection, tracking, coordination and engagement across a connected sensor and effector network.

As an autonomous drone for air defence, Roadrunner supports defence, security patrols, reconnaissance and surveillance. Its combination of rapid-response interception and flexible ISR payloads suits counter-UAS and counter-cruise-missile roles as well as persistent monitoring of critical sites and borders. For operators protecting fixed sites such as bases, ports or energy infrastructure, its reusability makes sustained readiness far more affordable than expendable-only options.
