Unitree G1 brings full-sized humanoid capability into a compact, comparatively affordable package, which has made it one of the most accessible entry points into humanoid robotics. Standing about 1.27 m and weighing roughly 35 kg, it folds down for easy transport and is built as much for developers and researchers as for early commercial pilots.
The platform is highly configurable, with 23 to 43 joint motors depending on the variant, enabling walking, running and increasingly dexterous manipulation, with optional force-controlled hands for delicate handling. It perceives its surroundings through an Intel RealSense depth camera and a Livox MID360 LiDAR for full 360° mapping and obstacle avoidance, moves at up to 2 m/s, and runs for around two hours per charge. Crucially for builders, G1 is ROS-compatible and ships with open learning frameworks, SDKs and APIs, so teams can train and extend behaviours rather than being locked into a closed stack.
That openness suits research and development, education, and light manufacturing and logistics tasks where an adaptable humanoid is more valuable than a fixed automation cell.
